Welcome to the winter updates. While many are planning for Christmas and the many celebrations
around the festivities, we will be available in the office advising of any annual leave as it is booked.

Last quarter we had many celebrations:
September:
Our Director Elizabeth presented to Starla Business Network for Women all about accounts for small
businesses.
We celebrated Gareth passing his probation, 6 months has flown by

October was quite eventful:
– We celebrated Fariya’s 2nd anniversary with us with some wonderful homemade curry & rice for
lunch.
– As a team we went to Cardiff for a session from the ICAEW on the new updates coming from
Companies House for Limited Company Directors, HMRC for small business accounts and MTD for Income Tax. It was a really informative day and was great to meet other local accountants too.
– Our Director Elizabeth took on the mammoth challenge for Breast Cancer Now to Walk 100 miles across the month (lots of pink was worn) all to raise funds and awareness. The final tally walked was 5 marathons + 2.9 miles (133.9 miles) and the fundraising page is open until the end of November via the link https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/elizabeth1758817485730
– The Starla Event in October was a bit different and was a fashion show to raise funds and awareness for Nai Wales. Our Director Elizabeth took part in the fashion show itself.

Self Assessments

From April 2026 HMRC are introducing quarterly submissions for self-employed and landlords whose combined income is over the thresholds below. This is called Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD-IT). Currently Partnerships are not included in MTD-IT, PAYE income is not included in MTD-IT

Emails have been sent out advising when or if you will need to register for this

Who will this affect?
> For 2026-27 self-employed income and or rental income over £50,000
> For 2027-28 self-employed income and or rental income over £30,000
> For 2028-29 self-employed income and or rental income over £20,000

What does HMRC require?
> Quarterly Submissions for self-employment and or rental income
> These FIXED quarters will be Apr – Jun, Jul – Sep, Oct – Dec, Jan – Mar.
> The FIXED submission deadlines are 07 Aug, 07 Nov, 07 Feb, 07 May.
> This should help you save for any self-assessment tax due
> In addition, you will need to submit a full self-assessment.

What will this look like?
> Capium software for MTD-IT will be launched in a few months.
> We will contact those affected from April 2026 first with the new requirements and prices

We have identified a number of clients who no longer need a self-assessment completed. We will be contacting you individually in May 2025 regarding the next steps.
